Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
How do I obtain the transcripts for a case that was tried in april 2010. It was a public trial, and the man was convicted. On trying to appeal the transcript is very important. I was told only an attorney has access to transcripts.

You have completely left out how you are related to the case, so there is no way to answer you.
It does not matter if it was a public trial or not, what matters is: were the proceedings taken down by a court reporter. If it was a felony trial, everything but the jury selection, opening and closing remarks must be taken down. If it was a misdemeanor trial it may have been taken down or not. If it was taken down and you pay the trial attorney to get the transcript you may get the transcript. What will you do with the transcript? A transcript is like an X-ray. In the right hands it reveals a great deal, but it most hands it reveals nothing. I suggest you not treat the conviction like putting a new roof on your house. Please hire a professional.
