Re: First Offenders act
The First Offender Act allows someone who has never been convicted of a felony in Georgia to be sentenced to a probationary period instead of jail time and have adjudication withheld after probation is successfully completed. The arrest can not be expunged from your record, but there is no actual conviction that results. However, if probation is not successfully completed, you can be resenteced to jail time and the conviction will be entered.
