Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I paid a contractor $2500.00 down to put on a new roof. Since paying him cant get him to respond to me for 2 months. Filed application of warrant and today was court, he did not show and we got our warrant and will be going to superior court next and we have to prove that it was theft by deception. Do I need to have a lawyer to represent me, or will the DA represent me? What would you suggest?

You never pay a contractor in advance. Legitimate contractors bill you on completion. Only crooks get large deposits.
A lawyer cannot represent you in the criminal case. You are simply a witness/victim. The DA handles the case. I am sad to say that your chances to collect the money are minimal in these type cases.
