The assistance they provided the police will be of no value. The value only comes in getting out of bond and making a deal when there will be a plea, not trial. The person going to trial after helping the police hired the wrong attorney. Here is what happens: person is arrested for trafficking, and "must" get out of jail, despite the fact there is no bond set. The attorney falls for the "must" get out of jail story and allows the client to assist the police, which means that the client is in the drug game (you cannot help police to make a bigger bust unless you know the players), not realizing the same guy that "must" get out of jail is the same person that "must not" go to jail when it is plea time. After the client gets out on bond and helps the police arrest a few other people, the client thinks he is just going to get probation. He was never going to get probation, there was always going to be a prison sentence, but the client did not want to hear that. So here we are.
