Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Petitioning for a change in the laws regarding sex offenders
My daughter was the victim of a sex crime two months ago. She is concerned that the man will be arrested, bond out, and then be free to harm another child while he is awaiting trial (which will not be until next April). She wants information of the proper way to petition the state to change the laws regarding the treatment of sex offenders, particularly in cases where a child is involved.

Re: Petitioning for a change in the laws regarding sex offenders
There are many ways a private citizen can push for a change in the laws - petition, letters, phone calls. However, keep in mind that the defendant is not a sex offender (at least not on this particular charge) until he is found guilty or pleads.
