possesion of alcohol by person under 21

I was arrested for under age possesion of alcohol. i was in a hotel room with friends the cops showed up and searched the room they found alcohol they arrested all of us even though no one had any alcohol in their hands they took us to jail but never read us our rights. what is the penalty for this offence? they say i have to go to court and pay $240 will i get any probation because if i do i cant join the airforce please help

I think there is a pretty good search issue involved here, meaning that maybe a motion to suppress would prevent the entry of evidence supporting the charges against you because the police may not have been authorized to search the hotel room absent a warrant or permission from the occupants. you should be able to get the D.A. to do some sort of pre-trial diversion and prevent a formal charge from being brought against you. You definately need an attorney, don't proceed without one. I don't know what the penalty is for the crime you are charged with and i don't have the time right now to look it up.
