Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
I am pressing charges of rape against my husband. The rape happened on July 23rd, 09. The detective is working on the case. How long does it normally take to file the charges and does the majority of accusations result in a prosecution? I know both parties' stories won't be the same, but assuming I, the victim, have physical injuries and other evidence of rape, is it likely to go to trial? How long can an investigation take and what all are they investigating? I called the detective, but he had left for the weekend. He said it is a long, arduos process, but how long are they normally?

I am sorry for the circumstances, but people guessing on a message board will do you no good and make no difference. You have contact with the people who have the best answer - the detectives. I suggest you see a domestic lawyer to discuss this and other issues.
