question about murder case
Is it allowed to get our own council to assist the state in prosicution of murder? i am the spouse of the victim.

Response to Murder Case
In general, only the State can prosecute crimes; victims are not permitted by statute to hire their own attorney to perform such governmental functions.

It is true that crimes are pros. by the state and you would need to discuss the matter with the DA or hire an attorney to do so for you. You could, in any event, bring a wrongful death action if there is any estate to collect it from. Good luck and I am sorry for your loss.
