two for one sentencing rule

Is there such a thing as the two for one sentencing rule for those sentenced to life due to the overcrowding of prisons in georgia?

Some jails will give two for one credit for time served in that jail due to overcrowding. Usually with prisons they have a grid to show how much time a person will actually serve before being released on parole.

That being said, the determination of how much of a sentence someone will serve is completely up to the prisons and is not controlled by the courts. Also if the life in prison sentence is for a violent crime, they probably won't get out for a very long time. The shorter sentences are usually for nonviolent felonies, like drug offenses.
