My son is in jail charged with theft and criminal trespassing

Nobond,why can't our hired lawyer get him out?I feel helpless!!!!how do I know we have a good lawyer?

First of all, call the jail to verify that no bond has been set. If they say it has not, ask if they can give you a reason. If he was on probation, there may be a probation hold. There would be a bond, but he would not be eligible to be released even if bond was set if there is a probation hold. Also, there are some serious charges for which a magistrate cannot set a bond, but it does not sound like he is charged with one of those. However, if that is the case, he would have to have a bond set by a Superior Court Judge. If you have hired an attorney for him, get in touch with them and ask them these questions. If they cannot give you or your son an answer, it might be time to get a new lawyer.
