Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Stabbing - Responsibility for hospital fees
I am a 22 year old male. My mother's boyfriend's son stabbed me twice in the stomach. My hospital fees are $35K.
My mother does not want me to sue and says the son will pay off the money in installments.
The son will at some point receive judgement and most likely a jail term for the offense. Obviously, he will not be paying during the time in jail.
What are my options? Can the hospital fee flip over to his responsibility and remove my name from the debt? Can this be done within the hospital or is a legal remedy my only choice?
Thanks!
