Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

In the state of Georgia is there a law stating that if someone serves time in a state prison for a non violent crime are their days counted as two for one meaning that one day counts for two? And did Georgia pass the law to decrerase the time served for first offenders?

Georgia does not have a �good time� or �earned time� policy for prisoners. It is the only prison system in the nation that does not award some time off for good behavior. Georgia prisoners are serving longer sentences due to tough-on-crime laws adopted in the 1990s. Those laws ban early release through parole for many offenders.

Some local county jails maintain their own good time programs.

In recent years Georgia has expanded eligibility for work release and transitional centers for some offenders, and Georgia is now studying prison overcrowding and costs.
