it states that you can appeal a civil judgement by default if you are within a 45-day period, but what if it's been longer than 45 days

Then you need to get off your computer and go speak to a lawyer ASAP. You already messed up by not hiring an attorney when you were first served with a lawsuit. You also hurt yourself by not responding to the lawsuit and having a default judgment entered against you. Are you going to go 0 for 3 and refuse to even SPEAK to a lawyer this time?

If so, enjoy having your assets seized to pay off the judgment. I wouldn't want to be in your situation.

Good luck.

As Cyrus indicated, you have screwed up badly several times already - by refusing to hire a lawyer when you got sued, by missing the 30 day deadline to answer, and then by missing the 15 bonus days the law gives the careless to reopen a default.

At this point, someone is probably ready to grab your paycheck and bank account, possibly grab your car, and put a lien on your home (actually they ALREADY have a lien if you have one).

You needed a lawyer before. You have a legal disaster now which will be costly to fix. Get a lawyer, not tomorrow, or next week, but today.

I note that you posted this in criminal law, so most civil attorneys on Law Guru missed your question. When you call attorneys do NOT look for criminal lawyers. Look for lawyers that specialize in bankruptcy and debtor relief.

And yes, you have to get one.
