If I'm at a store with my friend and someone came and started shooting at us but I happen to have a gun on me and shoot back is that considered self defense ?

ASSUMING facts given are TRUE and you can LEGALLY carry a gun, your self defense claim SHOULD work in GA
Good luck

It is self-defense. Here is where the problem comes in: You are a terrible shot because you spend all of your time on-line rather than at the range, and you (while defending your friend and yourself) shoot and miss the person assaulting you, and strike a small girl in the head. Remember, you are at a store, and unless it is Walmart at 3:00 a.m. on the 25th of the month, when no WIC recipients are shopping, there will be others in and around the store. When you strike the little girl in the head, every prosecutor in the United States will prosecute you, because to do otherwise would appear a dereliction of their duties. So, it will be self-defense, and you may still be prosecuted.
