Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Theft- Misdemeanor
I was issued a citaion for Theft by shoplifting. Teh amount of the item was $82. I was wondering what my options are to erase my record. and what will my court cost be. I am 17 years old.

If this is your first offense, you're probably looking at pre-trial diversion and will have to do some community service and some other things for the charges to be dismissed. Once they are dismissed, they can be expunged from your record. There is usually a pre-trial diversion fee of around $200, which is calculated separately from attorney's fees. Attorneys charge different fees to negotiate pre-trial diversion with the prosecutor.
