Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Trafficing and possession charge
I have a friend who was recently involved in a bust. He was not caught with any actual drugs on him but he did get caught with a scale and $3,000.00 in cash and a pocket full of fake dope. He has never been in trouble before except for a shoplifting charge that is still pending. It was a definite set up but they were after the person he was with we think. The money wasn't on him, it was in the floorboard of the car in front of him. What do you think he will get?? The jail told us his charges are possession and trafficing. He had NO real drugs on him though. Only the fake stuff. What is going to happen to him?? They are not posting a bond for him either. Anything you can tell me will be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Trafficing and possession charge
Your friend faces VGCSA (Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act) charges even if the contraband is fake. Before further comment is appropriate, I would want to speak to your friend about all the facts and circumstances concerning his "friend" and how the drug paraphernalia came to be in the car. Very crucial to all of the charges is the facts and circumstances surrounding the stop.
It appears from the zip code this was a Cobb County, Georgia case, and I would be pleased to meet with him to discuss the case provided arrangements are made to cover my time in going to the Adult Detention Center there to interview him. If he decides to employ this office, the deposit paid for the jail visit would apply to his fee.
Please call if you wish to arrange a jail visit through this office.
