Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia

I have a washer and dryer from a rent to own center. I have had it for over 2yrs. My contract was supposed to be up in 3/2011 but since I had some late payments my contract was extended without my knowledge to 3/2012. I am current on my payments but if I make a late payment they say they are gonna charge me with theft by conversion. Is that possible and how can I get out of that contract? I have paid 2x what it is worth. HELP!!!!!

As far as how you get out of the contract, YOU have the contract. We don't. Read it to see what it says about terminating or cancelling. Of course you paid more than it is worth, but you should have known this in the beginning. No, it is not likely you will be charged with theft (or they would even try to have you charged) unless you actively tried to conceal or move the items to keep them from picking them up.

You don't "get out of contracts." Contracts bind you and mean what they say. The fact that you chose to sign a bad deal doesn't change that.

Of course you overpaid, and your contract clearly told you how much you were agreeing to overpay.

As for criminal charges, unless you refuse to let them pick up the items if you are in default, that's not likely.
