Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Georgia
M y husband is an insulin dependant diabetic. He was recently hired at a landscape company at which point he told the owner that he could not pass a DOT physical in order to drive a work truck. The owner told him he needed workers and hired my husband anyway. Three weeks later, my husband was suddenly let go from the job. He has worked every day and done any task asked of him. The owner said that my husband "is a well liked and RELIABLE worker." They haven't out right said that they let him go because of him not being able to drive the company truck, but put it as, "they can't pay him $10/hr plus taxes and workman's comp if $20/hr of work isn't produced." Nobody has said anything to him about his work productivity in any way. There are other people who sit for hours on end, but are apparently assets to the company b/c of their ability to drive the work truck. Is there a way to go anywhere with this legally?

There is no general right or entitlement to employment and an employee can be terminated for any or no reason (with few exceptions for discrimination). From your post, the employer apparently thought your husband was not as productive as they wanted or needed.
