Legal Question in DUI Law in Georgia

A Hardship Permit

I got my 2nd DUI in February 2002. I had several fines, community services, etc imposed on me. The biggest problem is the fact that I lost my driver's license for a year. I had moved back in with my parents 2 years ago when my mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. It is getting worse and she will have to soon give up driving. My father has to go into the hospital for extensive surgery soon and, as they are my only transportaion, unless I could get a hardship license (to simply drive to and from work), I will lose my job. The attorney who represented me failed horribly and I don't know where else to turn. Could I possibly get a hardship permit? And are there any attorneys in Georgia that would work on a sliding fee or payment plan? (I just started this job).

Thank you.

Re: A Hardship Permit

There is no "hardship" permit in Georgia. The solution is to put yourself in a position to qualify for reinstatement at the earliest possible time. Pyment of fines, community service, Defensive driving school and Ignition Interlock device are all part of that process. I would be willing to guide you through that process but you do not need a lawyer if you will comly with the requirements set forth by DMVS. I know it can be confusing, so If I can be of assistance please call 706-724-8554.
