Legal Question in Education Law in Georgia
My child is enrolled in the Troup County Georgia School System. We live in Alabama but own several properties in troup County and pay taxes(alot). People who rent and pay no taxes in the county can go to Troup schools. The paper had an article saying that if you do not reside in the school district you cannot go there. If you are caught you could face a fine of $2,000 or 2 years in jail. Are there any loop holes so my child can continue in Troup County schools.

If you are sending your children to a school where you do not reside, you can be sued and even criminally prosecuted. To enroll them, you had to commit perjury on the forms, and that could land you in jail. You need to get your child out of the school today.
(And your statement that renters pay no property taxes is false. Landlords do pay taxes, and they pass those taxes on in their rental rates. So your attempted "defense" of a crime isn't even true, nor is it a defense.)
