Legal Question in Education Law in Georgia
Is it legal to record my class in a private college for my own personal study even if the teacher does not want me to, and are we as students entitled to a break if a class is 4 hours long? I have a class where due to it's nature and a learning disablity of my own I record my classes so that I may listen to them and take better more concise notes, but my instructer tells me I can't record in his class because some kid somewhere in another school recorded his/her teacher and then edited that recorded which caused probalems for the teacher. I thought there was a law that protected me in recording a classroom setting in a college because they are not private thoughts but it's a captured audience intaking an open lesson. On that same note this particular class will also not give us a break to even use the bathroom, and since part of our grade is due to class participation I am afraid to leave even though the class is 4 hours long. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I really need an A in the class and with out recording it there is no way I can intake all the information from my instructor who does not even pause during his lesson. Please help!!!!!

There's no law that let's you tape people without their consent, and no law mandating bathroom breaks in school.
However, if you have a disability that actually requires recording as a reasonable accomodation, there could be a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. See a lawyer who handles such cases.
