Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I'm 16 I want to get married to my boyfriend who is 19. My mom said she would sign for it. I live in gerogia. How do I go about this?

I should preface my comments by telling you that the divorce rate for 16 year old who gets married is close to 100% and 16 year olds really need to make smarter choices than marriage. But your mother (and father) should be telling you that, and hopefully they will change their mind - that is what a good mother and father would do. (I know you don't want to hear that).

Having said that, Georgia allows 16 year olds to marry if both parents to the minor consent. If one parent has SOLE legal custody, that parent can consent, and must appear in probate court with proof of sole custody (usually a divorce decree or other court order with the child's name). If there is joint legal custody, both parents must appear and give consent.
