Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Our 6 year old grandson is have surgery on Friday, our daurghter has medical custody for him, his dad can not be at the hospital for the surgery but is sending his wife to bring the grandson home to their hometo take care of him after the surgery. Our daughter wants to take her son and take care of him. Does the stepmon have any parental right in this matter?

Unless there is some valid concern, I don't see why the father can't send his wife to bring the child home.
