Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My 14 year old stepdaughter has elected to live with us her biological father (my husband). Her biological mother is not contesting this. How can we make this transition without using a lawyer? The cheapest lawyer I spoke to said $3000.00, but it's not contested at all! We are in Georgia.

You need a lawyer. It is more complicated than you think as the court also must rule on support, visitation and many other issues (likely a parenting plan, tax deductions, health insurance, etc).

If this really is uncontested, $3000 sounds highly excessive. The legal fees and court costs, depending on the county where each of you live, would be, done through my office, about $1000 (or less), unless you are leaving out disagreements that you have on the other issues or unless there is something very unusual about your case.

Feel free to call me to discuss this.
