Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Hi, im a 16 years old and my dad is fighting for the custody of me and my sister but its summer in Georgia and we want to go to New York tomorrow to visit our mother and his lawyer said dont let us go until she is served with the papers regarding the custody over me and my sister and if we are sent and my mother recieves the petition afterwards he would have to come to go to New York court to fight her in court. Is this true?

You should let your parents handle this. If you father is concerned about the move, he should hire an attorney who is licensed in New York and Georgia.
