Does the act of divorce alone affect your credit negatively?
My wife and I are considering divorce, and we are both are working it out quite well. We are dividing assets and bills without argument. We were wondering if everything else goes well (accounts being converted to individual accounts and so on), once we are divorced, does that action affect our credit? If everything goes smoothly no court or anything, does our credit take a hit?

As a general rule, creditors will not allow you to convert joint accounts to individual accounts. Agreement or not, you need to see a lawyer to understand how this works.

Divorce does not affect your credit. However, you should at least pay an attorney to review anything before you sign it.
