Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

how would I adopt my 7yr old grandson whom I have had temp custody sence birth. Neather parent has ever provided for him or has spent any time with him. I got custody of him from the family and childrens dept in the county I live in .

Unless the child is legally in DFCS custody (or under their supervision) you need the consent of one or both parents. Depending on the extent of DFCS involvement you may need the caseworker's consent and a release from DFCS. DFCS might even terminate the parent's rights. You need a minimum of two things at this point - the casseworker's assent and a lawyer.
