Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

We adopted a 11 year old about 3 years ago. Before we adopted her she acted out and I told my concern to the case worker who informed me that it would get better once she was adopted it was just her realizing she would never go back to her real mother. We have had 3 years of hell. She has been diagnozied with odd and some other things that we were not aware of. She has been in alot of trouble at school and is dissrespectful at home. I have been come serverly depressed, my hair is falling out and I am having other medical problems due to the stress of caring for this child. we are unable to give her the care she needs with the problems she has. DEFACS says if we try to give her up we will be charged with abondonment. I need advise?

You have no more right to give up your adopted child than one you gave birth to.

Your caseworker should be able to assist you in getting counseling for yourself and your child. Use that resource.
