What do I need to do to have my husband adopt my 10 year old daugher? her biological father has no rights to her; we don't even know where he is. 7 years ago the biological father petitioned the court to legitimize my daughter but both his first attempt and his appeal were denied. We have no way to contact the biological father to have him sign papers so what would we need to do?

Step one is to hire an experienced adoption attorney who may be able to get parental rights terminated.

Your husband will need to file a petition to adopt in the county where the child resides. There is a lot of paperwork. Consult with a local attorney.
