Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Adoption By A Step Parent

My brother's ex-wife and husband won a law suit taking away all of his rights as a parent. He has been an absent parent due to the fact that every time he called or went to visit his child , his ex-wife would always start a fight and try to have him locked up.Also, does this mean that the rest of the father's family has no rights. The step father is going to adopt her and change her name. Can we prevent this from happening?

Re: Adoption By A Step Parent

It sounds like his parental rights have been terminated. When his rights are terminated, the entirte families rights are terminated as well. I am wondering though why there would be two hearings? Usually a termination and the adoption would occur at the same time. If the adoption has not happened then perhaps your broyther can hire a lawyer and fight the tertmination too.
