Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
asset division
i would like to know how assets should be divided between two people who: have been married 3 years @2 months, no children together,
the husband has paid for every expense in and for the household while the wife worked and kept her money for herself. the husband paid for the wifes
business startup, also the husband is disabled, also thewifeis getting ssi on her husbands disability. she has a car in both names, a truck for the business in both names. also the husband
bought property and put it in both their names and he is trying to sell it to recover some cash outlay and to relieve some of the monthly cost to him. he has also paid for her 2 vehicles insurance for the past 16 months. he bought a home in june 1998 in his name only with money from his 401k plan and also paid off bills with those proceeds and bought new furniture for the home also from those proceeds.
what do you suggest as far as his recourse in this matter of divorce.
until the husband became disabled he did all around the home, cooking, laundry yard work,
his children shared in dirty dish duty, and some house cleaning.
the wife is an alcoholic and smokes heavily, is
very paranoid of husbands friends.

Re: asset division
Wow. I guess the wife doesn't have any redeeming value. In Georgia the law presumes that property acquired during the marriage shpuld be divided 50-50. Issue is what was acquired during the marriage. Will probably have to have a good reasons, some of which you cite, to change the presumption of 50-50
