Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
Assets after final divorce decree.
I need to know if someone can come back after there has been a final divorce decree issued, and sue for assets already decided and finalized months ago. The divorce was final, and now ex-spouse wants to re-open and sue for half of all assets. Is this possible???

Anyone can sue for anything, but frivilous litigation can result in costs and attorneys fees being awarded. If the time for appeal has run, that's the end of the matter. Consult with an attorney about a cease and desist letter.

Property settlements in divorces cannot be reopened. If validly entered, once the time for appeal has expired (30 days) that's over.
