do i need an attorney to go to court to terminate temporary custody when i gave it for the better of my children

Hiring an attorney is not a requirement or prerequisite to going to court. HOWEVER, I strongly recommend that you consult and/or hire an attorney prior to going to Court or filing any documents with the Court. Personally, even being a lawyer, I would not represent myself in court. There's an old saying that "a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client."
