Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I am currently awaiting my day in court to get custody of two small children .We already have temporary custody and are going for full custody . The childerens bological mother has not done what the judge ask of her and cannot take care of the kids . We are wondering if a lawyer is needed or is their a alternate route we can follow . Can we do this without problems if the biological mother signs them over willingly
