Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My boyfriend is 19 years old and i am 17 can he go to jail for just dating me . my parents know but they dont like it they liked him at first then they heard that he mentally challenged sorta and dont like him they have told me that they can put him in jail can they , by georgia state law.

Yes he can.

Section 16-12-1 of the Georgia Code, contributing to the delinquincy of a minor, may apply. For some children it does not apply at 17, but in some circumstances the law also applies to 17 year olds.

Additionally, in Georgia, the age of majority is 18. Until the age of majority is reached, a person is under the legal care and control of their parents or legal guardians. No person may interfere with those parental rights unless a court of law determines otherwise.

So either way, if you want him to stay out of trouble, do not talk to him again until you turn 18.
