Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

What is the
My brother was held for domestic battery cruelty to children (2nd degree) over the weekend. This took place in Perry County. He's currently out on bond, which she posted.

She did not require medical attention (which may or may not matter legally). A neighbor had called the police and they opted to take him in.

Given the limits of space, I have these questions:

1) What's the process for him with the charge? He's had a prior report, but no arrest. Can the court order counselling/detox?
2) She has custody of another child by previous marriage ? Can this affect her custodial rights?
3) They are considering divorce (if custody of the other child becomes an issue).

Any general help or if someone could point me in the right direction or let me know of an attorney I could discuss this would be appreciated.
