Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Can my ex change the child support amount?

My ex husband and I were divorced in 1999, we have one child who is now 9. At the time of our divorce he was making approx $54k and his payment monthly has been $900. I am remarried, but I don't work and my current husband is self employed making approx $35K. My ex changed jobs and claims he no longer makes enough to cover the $900/mo. He says he's going to court and will have the amount reduced. Do I have any say in this? Will they just tell him to pay the minimum? How does this work? Thanks.

He will have to file a Petition for Modification. Then he will have to convince the judge that his cirumbstances make it impossible for him to meet his obligation. You will certainly have say in the matter. Consult with a local attorney.

Stop worrying about a non-existant case. You can't respond to something that has never been filed.

If and when a case is filed, at that time, get a lawyer.
