Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

ex wants to change our childrens schools.we share 50/50 joint physical cus of the kids. before the 50/50 she wanted to move to another state and take the kids then in mediations she wanted full cus.on just a verbal agreement she said she would not take them out of there current school now that she is getting remarraied she wants to. the kids do not want to i do not want them to and there teachers also advise agaist it i believe that she is moveing and just wants to make it more convenant to her. what do i do i believe they should stay in there stable enviroment. ibelieve she told me before she wanted to so if i act quick i may be able to find a way to get an attorny befor the are enrolled into a new school.

If you care about your kids and what hapens to them you should already have a lawyer. The on e way you can about guarantee things will keep going badly is to continue not to retain counsel.

You didn't disclose who has legal custody. If you have joint legal custody, the court probably appointed one of you to be the tie-breaker if there were disagreements.

In any event, remember, a verbal agreement isn't worth the paper it is written on if it conflicts with a current court order. At this point, if she's moving out of state, there is a material change that will negatively influence the children. As a result, you should file for modification of child custody which will give you full legal custody with visitation to the mother. You don't necessarily have to act today. However, you are right to act before the school year starts.
