Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Change in Custody

My husband and his ex have joint legal custody of my stepson with his mom being the primary. Last year he moved in with us full time and now goes to school in our district. How do we go about receiving child support. She has not paid for anything in over a year, no cloths, haircuts, ect. And we never legally changed anything in writing about custody

Re: Change in Custody

At present you have no right to child support and the mom can take the child at any time, based upon what you posted, as no one has gone to court. You need to retain a lawyer immediately to file a change of custody. That can also affect support. If the mother agrees to support and custody this is a fast fairly inexpensive process. If she does not agree, it is an expensive process.
