Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My child was born in th state of california out of wedlock. The biological father's name is listed on the birth certificate. The biological father hasn't been apart of my childs life for 6 years and doesn't paychild support. We relocated to the state of Georgia and have been here over 10 months. My son went to California to visit his grandmother his biological father kidnapped him the ady before his flight home. His biological father has now filed some type of petition for right and since I am not there i must call the courts on the phone. My question is do I need to file for custody in the state of Georgia also?

Your child was kidnapped (your words), and a suit has been filed in California, and you don't have a lawyer (and perhaps called the police)?!?!?! Sorry to be harsh, but that is simply unbelievable and makes it appear this is not important. Get off the computer, and get on the phone with a lawyer right now.
