Re: Child Name Change

If you have sole legal custody, you can change her name. If you have joint legal custody, you will need to consult her fahter. You would need to petition the Superior Court and publish you petition with the legal organ of the county which you reside.

Re: Child Name Change

I respectfully disagree with Mr. Ballinger's post to you.

The fastest way to do a name change is with the father's consent.

If he does not consent, you MAY be able to do especially if he has failed to support and see the child. He would need to be served, either in person or, if he cannot be found, by publication.

Our office handles name changes if you are in need of further help and are in metro Atlanta.
