Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child Custody

My 14 year old step-daughter has the right to chose where she lives now. She currently lives with her mother and wants to come live with her father now. Her mother wants some kind of legal document stating her visitation rights and that she will still be able to see her. Is there such form and is this legally necessary?? Thank you .

Re: Child Custody

Yes, the parties can consent to change of custody. The petition will still have to go through the courts. The agreed visitation schedule will be included in the paperwork. The parents should seek a local attorney to draw the paperwork up for them.
