Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child custody

About eight years ago i adopted my spouse's child and three years later we got divorced. Almost two years ago i signed a surrender of parental rights final release for adoption to my ex-wife's new husband. The adoption never went through, i found out about it recently, two weeks after my ex-wife passed away. I recently discovered the child was removed from her mother's care sometime ago by the state for child endangerment. The child is currently in the care of her paternal grandparents.

Question is: do i still have any legal rights to the child since there seems to be no intrest in going through with the adoption?

Re: Child custody

You are the legal father with full legal rights. However, the children are now dependent and in a court, the court would consider the child's best interest as far as custody. You do not need to wait because the best interest would include familiarity and stability of home.
