Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My child father lives in a different state than me.He has never denied that we have a child together. I am currently waiting for child support papers to go thru on his end because after 3 years of him hardly helping we both agreed that putting him on child support was the way to go since i have not received anything from him since April of 2010. Once a paternity test is taken he will have some legal rights as a parent. We dont exactly get along all the time so i need to know what can i do to get full custody of our child with us living in different states.?
