How old does a child have to be, in the state of Georgia, to decide which parent they will live with?

At age 14, the child can express his/her preference. It then has to be approved by a Superior Court judge. Almost all judges will approve the selection, unless the selected parent is an "unfit parent" as defined by GA law.

Age 18 is the youngest when you can decide. At age 14, if a parent files a case, a child can express a preference, and a judge will approve it if the choice is reasonable and the parent is fit.
