Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child Support / Adoption

I am a non-custodial father of child in the state of Georgia. I currently do not pursue visitation even though I have it awarded to me through the courts, this is due to a very difficult decision that my son's life would be better not bouncing between two very different households. I have been asked by my son's step-father if he could adopt my son. If I were to allow this, is there anything that I should be aware of? Would I still have to pay child support since another individual is assuming responsibility for his well being?

Re: Child Support / Adoption

Your child support order will remain in effect until and unless it is changed by a court. Consult with a local attorney. It may be possible to consolidate all matters.
