Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
child support
if my child support was based on my employment amount and my employment amount has significantly dropped how long would it take me to get the amount reduced? Additionally, my wife is now working and receiving 48% of my military retirement which was not considered when we came to the original amounts. In Georgia, is it correct that child support is based on BOTH parents incomes? is there an easy formula to use to give a gross estimate?
My ex and daughter live in Savannah and we filed in Savannah so would I--name removed--better off hiring representation in Savannah?
Thank you

Re: child support
Yes, we now use a complex excel spreadsheet to determine child support which takes into account many factors, including but not limited to both incomes, health insurance, and child care. You need to hire an attorney in the Savannah area who deals primarily with family law. How long it takes will depend on how fast you act and how fast you can get a temporary hearing. Your income should be reduced significantly in order to be able to change the final decree. You will need to file the modification in the county where the custodial parent lives.
