Child Support

I�m filing for a no-fault divorce and since I don�t have a lot of money because I�m unemployed, I used a website to draw up my papers. I�m asking for $150 a week for child support (my spouse currently makes 36000 a year). He says that this is way to much and he won�t sign the papers because he doesn�t want to pay that much. He says I don�t need that much money b/c I live with my parents right now. I didn�t work the whole time we were together so I could stay home with our daughter. I�m trying to get my real estate license right now and I don�t want to live on my own and not be able to support my daughter. He says that the court system will look at the fact that I live with my parents and my dad�s income. I was wondering if this is true, and does he have a chance of getting the payments lowered. He also lives with his parents right now. Also, he doesn�t want to file, but he wants to take this to court and fight it. So now I�m supposed to take this to court and have to pay all the costs just so he can fight it. Is there anyway around this?

What he has told you is untrue. Child support will be based on 17-23% of his income. Also, because you did not work during the marriage, you may be entitled to alimony. Please contact my office for further consultation on this matter.
