Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child Support

My husband and I resently got married. He pays too much now for child support for his 6yr old daughter who lives in NC. His ex-wife now wants to get more child support from him b/c we're married. She is also married, and I wanted to know if she can do such a thing, or if we can even try to get the child support lowered? Thanks.

Re: Child Support

She can certainly try and get the child support increased, just as you can try and get it decreased. In Georgia, support is normally based on the parent's income, not their marital status. You need to speak with a NY lawyer.

Re: Child Support

Either side can ask for a modification, based on a material change of circumstances. Consult with a local attorney.
