Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child Support Options

My ex - is in jail for non-payment of support. CSE scheduled a hearing in April. He has called and asked me to drop the case and said he will take out a life insurance policy for what he owes in back support with me as the benificiary.

I'm so not sure this is a good idea and would love some opinions on this situation. Is this a common suggestion?

Can he stay in jail indefinitely?

Re: Child Support Options

I don't understand how you would benefit from such a life insurance policy, unless he is in a terminal condition. It sounds like a ploy to me. Settlement of these cases happens all the time, but only under terms agreeable to the party to whom the back child support is owed. You should consult with a local attorney.
